New Orleans BBQ shrimp- recipe
Hi there. Happy Friday! I've still got a touch of the post Super Bowl blues...Do you? I guess this snowy! weather doesn't help. But let's talk Valentine's Day. You may be into it-- you may not. If you are-- try out this New Orleans BBQ shrimp which is a relatively easy dish to throw together. (if you're in Indy you can pick up fresh shrimp at Kona Jack's or at Mitchell's in Clay Terrace) Paired with some French bread, a glass of wine and you've got a lovely meal. Stop by Trader Joe's and pick up some flowers-- like the $5.00 mini roses they sell. I bought some yellow roses the other week and they lasted a week. Not bad for 5 bucks.
Need a bit of music?
So I've been listening to tons of music on You Tube and thought I'd share some favorites and what I'm hitting "replay" on:
"Cherish" by Madonna
I'm a die-hard Springsteen fan and I love this cover of "Dancing in the Dark" by Scottish singer, Amy MacDonald. (I found out about this cover from reading Head Butler- the best (in my opinion) web site for reviews and recommendations on books, movies, & music)
Late Night with David Letterman has an awesome concert series Live on Letterman and I'm loving this these live performances: "Chasing Pavements" by Adele (can't wait to see The Grammys!) , "Yellow" and "Viva La Vida" by Coldplay, and "Red Rain" by Peter Gabriel.
"Please Please Please" by James Brown (I love this song! & the cape!)
I totally dig this bare bones cover of "Can't Help Falling in Love" by Ingrid Michaelson.
"Nightswimming" by R.E.M. Ah, Michael Stipe's voice. (I must learn to play this on the piano & must take piano lessons again:)
"Crying" by Roy Orbison, it doesn't get much better.
"Have You Seen Her" by the Chi Lites
"When You Say Nothing At All" by Keith Whitley, those lyrics...
"Another Country" by Tift Merritt.... such a lovely song.
Happy weekend to you! I'm hoping to get out of town for a bit:) I'll be back next week with Super Bowl 46 wrap up and a mini trip post. -A.
