Have you been downtown for the Super Bowl excitement? If not-- you need to go. Worried about parking? No worries- although some of the parking garages were sold out Tuesday and Wednesday, there was plenty of parking available. Another option: have someone drop you off downtown and pick you up. Or-- take one of the park and ride options.
As I mentioned- I was downtown Tuesday night and Wednesday morning and evening. I loved it. I used to work downtown and I miss not being able to get there as much as I would like.
I had an absolute blast walking around the city and doing all kinds of people watching. And the weather? Phenomenal. 60 degrees: I think I love you.
Last night I was in the audience for a taping of Late Night with Jimmy Fallon. It was one of the best evenings in a long time. I'm an absolute pop culture geek. Here was the line up on last night's show:
guest announcer: Deion Sanders (looking all snazzy in his suit)
guests: Tracy Morgan (wearing bedazzled jeans-- which sparkled so much, I bet there were diamonds on them), Tim Tebow (better looking in person), All American Rejects (I didn't know too much about them)
I've been to a few show tapings and this one was a blast to watch. It's amazing to see how many people make a TV show happen. Jimmy Fallon was charming (he laughed a lot and really looked like he was loving being in Indy) and thanked the audience a lot and mentioned how much fun they've had in Indy. The Roots were fantastic (& possibly one of the best dressed bands). I've been listening to some of their tunes.
I didn't take my phone in during the taping- so I didn't take any pictures (womp, womp)... but here's a glimpse into earlier in the day... waiting for tickets. My Dad, my uncle K. (happy birthday) and I waited in line for about an hour to pick up our tickets. There were a few hundred people in line. No lie! When we returned at 3:30 p, there were 3 or 4 times that amount of people. We waited about an hour and a half before we were seated. I did not mind waiting... the weather was gorgeous and people in line were chatting. Time flew.
Once we were seated everything went by quickly. The warm up comedian cracked me up (anybody know his name?) The audience was pumped and sometimes it was hard to hear the guests because everyone was applauding and screaming. The show stopped during commercial breaks and to rearrange the set, and to retape a segment. All in all we were there for about an hour and a half.
If you were at the taping-- I'd love to hear your thoughts. I hope other TV shows visit Indy... I'd love to see Letterman tape a few shows here... Maybe for the Indy 500:)
p.s. This Fresh Air interview with Jimmy Fallon (from May, 2011, I believe) is a must listen...
Also- I'm soo glad I follow Indy Star on Twitter because that's how I found out that Jimmy Fallon was taping his show in Indy and that's how I applied for tickets.

Our Jimmy Fallon taping was a blast as well. Thanks for all your helpful tips last week. I'd never been to any kind of television taping, so it was really interesting. I agree - it seemed like Jimmy was having the time of his life here. Our taping has Michael Strahan as the host, with Taylor Lautner, Adam Levine and Nas as the guests. We also got to see a few skits with Drew Brees, Jerry Rice, Tony Gonzalez, Jeff Saturday and Dwight Freeney. SO much fun.

Angie: I'm still exhausted from the SB week and wishing it was here again:) No problem re: the tips for Jimmy Fallon. I saw the show you attended and it was hysterical. That would've been fun to attend!
